Do You Remember These Items That Were on Santa’s list from the ‘70s?

Hatchimals have got nothing on these toys that topped every kid’s list in the ‘70s:  Do you remember these?

Atari VCS and Pong: the world would never be the same again.

Electronic Football (and Baseball and Soccer) handheld games soon followed, making video gaming mobile for the very first time.  Maybe moving all those red lines down the football field inspired you to put down the game and toss a Nerf Football around (no need to go outside – it’s soft enough for indoors!)?

If you weren’t one of the lucky few to own an Atari system (or have a friend who did), there was always Simon, Mastermind, Mouse Trap and the Hungry Hungry Hippos to fill our afternoons with.  Or maybe Boggle and Connect Four?

The ‘70s were very good to Barbie, giving her a three story Dream House, Malibu Barbie glamour and style, and a Barbie Country Camper in the driveway.  Since she’s living in Malibu, some of the Charlie’s Angels dolls might drop by as Evel Knievel roars down the highway on his Stunt Cycle.

Although first introduced in the ‘60s, action figures reached new heights in the ‘70s.  GI Joe’s popularity soared (largely in part to his fancy new Kung-Fu Grip), hit television shows like The Six Million Dollar Man and The Bionic Woman and films like Star Wars and Planet of the Apes delivered dozens of characters to store shelves.  And somewhere in the mix emerged Stretch Armstrong.

We all remember those cool 8-track decks in the car, but didn’t we all want a portable one so we could take our music with us everywhere?

Not old enough for a car?  No problem. The aptly named Big Wheel could take you everywhere you needed to go.  Or maybe a skateboard. Not just any skateboard – a Banana Board Cruiser.

We still can’t solve a Rubik’s Cube. Can you?

Let’s pause here for a moment to ponder how in the world we all decided we needed to own a pet rock.  And Shrinky Dinks.  And a Baby Alive doll.
