How To Rock Your Romance in ‘70s Style

Last month, Delilah reminisced with us about so many of the things that made the ‘70s great, and she assured us that a lot of them will be making their way onto the Rock & Romance Cruise - the hot rollers, the wide belts and hair spray (lots and lots of hair spray) already have a spot in her suitcase. So that got us thinking about what we did, what we wore and what we were doing when getting ready for a little romance back in the ‘70s. Remember these must-haves that helped us usher in the romance during that rockin’ era?

  • Getting ready for romance meant looking your best, and what better way to start than spending a summer day at the beach glistening in baby oil and your hair full of Sun-In?
  • Love’s Baby Soft. Need we say more?
  • A shampoo that gave singles a great conversation starter? “Gee, Your Hair Smells Terrific.”
  • Drip candles tucked in bottles for those romantic dinners.
  • A pop-up telephone directory to store all your numbers in.
  • Picking out the most romantic K-tel album for the record player.
  • Getting ready for date night by shopping at Miller’s Outpost and Kinney Shoes, then topping off the whole look with a pukka shell necklace. And don’t forget to tuck that oversized comb in your back pocket.
  • Dreaming of heading out on that very same date in a Trans Am and not a Pinto or Pacer.
  • Ordering Tab during dinner, then heading over to the drive-in to watch Love Story, The Way We Were or Ice Castles playing on the big screen.
  • Topping off the night with a Harvey Wallbanger or a Manhattan.
